Frequently asked questions

What can Life Minder track?

Life Minder tracks injections and pills, medication timing, injection sites, food, protein, fiber, water, symptoms, weight, progress photos, vitamins, supplements, other medications, and personal routines. The timeline and Journey views are built from the entries you add; the app does not insert demo check-ins for new users.

Does Life Minder recommend a medication or dose?

No. Life Minder records the routine you enter. It does not diagnose, recommend medication, calculate a clinical drug level, recommend dose changes, or tell you how to treat side effects. Contact your prescriber or pharmacist for medical guidance.

How do I add vitamins, supplements, or other medications?

Open You, find Other medications & routines, and choose Add reminder or routine. You can set the name, category, amount, unit, interval, start date, reminder time, and whether reminders are enabled.

How do routine swipes work?

On Today, swipe left across a routine to mark it done. Swipe right to schedule a quick reminder 30 minutes from now. Adding a reminder to a completed routine unmarks it so it returns to the active state.

Why did a reminder not appear?

Open iOS Settings and confirm notifications are allowed for Life Minder. Check Focus modes, Scheduled Summary, notification delivery settings, and the reminder toggle in Life Minder. Reminders are a convenience and should not be your only method for following a prescribed medication schedule.

What Apple Health information does Life Minder use?

Life Minder requests read-only access to body-mass entries when you choose Apple Health integration. It imports shared weights into Journey and avoids duplicate imports. It does not write to Apple Health. Manage access in the Health app or iOS privacy settings.

Where is my data stored?

Your tracker archive and photos are stored locally in Life Minder’s private app storage on the device. Life Minder does not sync the archive through CloudKit or a Life Minder account. You can make a portable backup from You → Data & backups → Export JSON archive.

How do I export or restore a backup?

Open You → Data & backups. Choose Export JSON archive and save the file somewhere you control. To restore, choose Import JSON archive, select a valid Life Minder file, and confirm replacement. Import replaces the current local tracker, so export the current archive first if you may need it.

How do I delete everything and start fresh?

Open You → Start fresh → Delete all user data and confirm. Life Minder deletes its local entries, settings, routines, progress photos, imported weight copies, and scheduled reminders, then returns to onboarding. Original Apple Health records and any JSON files you previously exported are not deleted.

How do food search and barcode scanning work?

Food search uses USDA FoodData Central. Barcode lookup checks Open Food Facts first and may use USDA as a fallback. Results are reference data and can be missing or inaccurate, so review the name, serving, protein, and fiber before saving. Manual entry remains available when a lookup fails.

Are meal and progress photos uploaded?

No. Photos you select are stored in the local Life Minder archive. They are included if you deliberately create a JSON export, so treat exported files as sensitive.

Where do medication names and labels come from?

Medication search uses RxNorm from the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Available label links come from DailyMed. Life Minder does not interpret those labels or use them to recommend treatment. You can also enter a custom medication or routine.

How do private insights work?

On a supported device with Apple Intelligence enabled, Life Minder can summarize a limited snapshot of recent dose timing, symptoms, nutrition, hydration, weight, and routine completion using Apple’s on-device model. The app does not send the journal to an external AI API. If Apple Intelligence is unavailable, Life Minder shows an availability message instead.

How do I request an App Store refund?

If paid features are introduced and a purchase is processed by Apple, refund eligibility and decisions are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with the Apple Account used for the purchase, choose Request a refund, and follow Apple’s instructions. Downey Tech cannot directly issue an App Store refund.

Before reporting a problem

  1. Confirm you are using the latest available Life Minder and iOS versions.
  2. Close and reopen Life Minder.
  3. Check the relevant permission in iOS Settings for notifications, camera, photos, or Health.
  4. Try the manual entry path if a network food or medication lookup is unavailable.
  5. Export a JSON backup before reinstalling or using Start Fresh.
